life lately

It's finally feeling like spring around here, and I couldn't be more excited about it. We've got a three-day break which I'm filling with cooking and baking for the holiday and long relaxing walks in the sunshine. I hope you all are enjoying your weekend!

Happy first day of spring! The weather here in the Midwest is nowhere near feeling like spring (we've got snow in the weekend forecast), but that's not putting a damper on my enjoyment of all the pretty new warm-weather styles filling my favorite stores right now. I popped into Anthropologie today and was absolutely delighted by their new crop of springy styles. I love the store's fresh, fun atmosphere right now, and, as always, their penchant for lovely little details (the texture on the blue blouse below is so pretty in person). I wish my budget allowed for almost every perfect piece in the store to come home with me. Just go check it out, ok?

I decided I couldn't resist my travel-bug urge (mentioned here) to take a trip to the Lonestar State. I just returned from a nice little getaway to Dallas and Austin. In the Dallas area, we did a few touristy things like the Fort Worth Stockyards and the Cowboy Stadium tour (favorite stop: the cheerleaders' locker room. Anyone else watch Making the Team religiously?) and of course filled in our free time with lots of shopping. In Austin, we had a blast experimenting with food truck delicacies and listening to live music. It was all I had hoped for from my long weekend, and I'd love to return for a longer trip sometime soon!
