hang ups

I love unusual artifacts as home decor, and wall art is no exception. Paintings and photos are great staples, but it is wonderful to also include more unusual objects on walls to add a bit more dimension and personality to a home.

In addition to the ideas featured here, I have seen great wall art created with patterned plates, a variety of antique mirrors, moss, textiles, light boxes, and even a collection of cowboy hats. Take a chance on something daring and different, and you might love what you create!

happy hearts

Happy Valentine's Day! Below is a little garland I made from scrapbook papers and ribbon for the holiday. I like the pop of color and fun it brings to my window so much, though, that I might not take it down right away. I hope everyone has a great day! XO!

sweet things

Valentine's Day is just around the corner. It's not on many people's list of favorite holidays, but I'll take any excuse to decorate and celebrate, especially when the decor involves cute hearts and celebrating means sweet treats. Here are some of my favorite festive finds for this year:

necessary getaway

If you ask me, February is the worst month. Despite being the shortest, it always seems to last the longest because it's so dreary and there are no built-in breaks. I do my best to brighten up February with colorful clothes and lots of fresh flowers, but I think the absolute best way to improve upon the month is to take a trip. Although not always practical or possible, this year, a quick getaway somewhere not too far seems necessary, and I'm dreaming of a long weekend in Dallas.

cold weather cute

Here in the not-so-sunny states, winter is out and upon us. It seems to me that most people that choose cold-weather looks for movies and magazines (i.e. stylists in LA), don't know how cold it actually gets in states that have a real winter. Like negative temperatures winter. Most of their looks are cute, absolutely, but for walking further than out of a car and into the mall, forget it. You'll be a popsicle. And although I have too many coats to count and even more scarves, I took it upon myself to find some really good, really warm winter clothes. Keep cozy!
